How To Make Candles In 8 Simple Steps?

DIY projects are a popular way to create unique home decor. Although DIY projects are rewarding, it can be challenging to find one that’s simple and fun.

Enter the candle. The candle is a favorite of crafters because it’s versatile, elegantly beautiful, and simple to make. Candle making supplies List are as follow:

  • One package of candle making soy wax
  • One large package of candle wicks
  • One bottle of fragrance oils
  • One spatula
  • One heat-proof container
  • One double boiler
  • One thermometer
  • One pair of chopsticks, or pencils

Step 1:

Make sure that your surface is flat and clean before you start the candle-making process. Protect the area by using newspaper or paper towels. Anything that can be waxed should be moved.

Take the amount of wax that you need to fill your container and multiply it.

Step 2:

Place the wax in your double boiler. Let it melt for 10-15 minutes. Stir often.

Step 3:

After your candle wax has been melted it is time to add the fragrance oils. To determine how much fragrance oil to add, follow the directions on your wax package. Add it to the melted wax, and stir for a few moments. Although this step is optional we recommend it to create a beautiful floral aroma.

Step 4:

Before pouring in the wax, the wick should be attached to the bottom. Attach the wick by quickly sticking it to your container’s bottom with hot wax. The wax should be left for 5 minutes before it can harden. Alternatively, you could superglue it.

Step 5:

Allow the wax to cool before pouring it into the container. Once the temperature reads 140 degrees on the thermometer, it is time to pour.

Slowly pour the wax into the container. You can hold the wick in its place, but do not pull on it. Keep a little bit of wax in the boiler to finish your candle.

Step 6:

You must secure your wick to stop it from moving around in the wax melty. Two chopsticks should be placed on the top of your container. The wick should be sandwiched between them so that the wax does not dry out.

Allow the wax set for four hours at ambient temperature.

Step 7:

If you find that your candle has an unattractive top (e.g cracks or holes), heat it up and then add the rest of your wax. Let harden.

Step 8:

A candlewick should measure less than half an in. Trim the wick if your candle is flickering or has a high flame when lit.

Three Creative Candle Variations

Option 1: Floral Candles

You can use a paintbrush or some wax to attach dried roses from your favorite bouquet onto the container. Do this after you have poured the wax into the container in Step 5. You can make a colorful candle by mixing different types of petals and leaves. You can also use fragrance oil to match the petals.

Option 2: Colorful Candles

In the second step, add chopped-up crayons into your melting wax. For each candle, you will need between 12 and 15 crayons. For the prettiest color, choose crayons that belong to the same family!

Option 3: Buried Treasure Lamps

You can find a small, cheap treasure by looking for a small toy or ring. Then, place it in the container where you will pour the wax in step 5. Pour the wax over the treasure to keep it buried. You can also use gel wax to make it visible inside the candle. Mark the spot with an X

Once you have learned how to make candles from scratch, you can decorate your home with them or make thoughtful gifts for others. You can make your home even more special by combining your candles with a stunning bouquet.
